THE VASARI CORRIDOR RE-OPENING

The Vasari Corridor of the Uffizi reopens on December 21, closed since 2016 to allow for the necessary interventions to adapt to the most recent safety regulations. Made accessible to the public for the first time, visitors will be able to enjoy a unique panoramic walk above the center of Florence: a route that, starting from a special entrance on the first floor of the Gallery of Statues and Paintings, will take them to walk above the Ponte Vecchio, in order to reach, on the other side of the Arno, the Boboli Gardens and the royal palace of Palazzo Pitti. More than a journey, it will be a real leap back in time of almost half a millennium, when the Corridor was created. Restored today to its original bareness, it appears to the visitor as a simple "aerial tunnel", over 700 meters long above the heart of the city, exactly as it appeared at the time when the lords of Florence walked along it to reach Palazzo Vecchio in a very short time, undisturbed and safe, from their home in Pitti.

The Vasari Corridor can be accessed by purchasing the ticket for the Uffizi Gallery with a special supplement, at a total price of 43 euros. Reservations are required. The Uffizi-Vasari ticket allows those who book a visit to the Corridor to enter the Uffizi two hours earlier to visit the museum. It is also possible, for those who already have a ticket for the Uffizi Gallery, to later add the supplement for the Vasari Corridor at a cost of 20 euros, if there is space in the access slots to the Corridor scheduled for the day of the visit to the Gallery (at a time later than that indicated for entry to the museum). Free admission and reductions provided for by law remain valid.

The Vasari Corridor can be accessed from Tuesday to Sunday, at the booked time, one group at a time, for a maximum of 25 people (plus two staff members as chaperones), from the space in front of the Venetian Chapel (the green rooms of Venetian painting) on the first floor of the gallery. The first group of the day will be able to visit the Corridor at 10:15 am and the last at 4:35 pm. The Corridor can only be walked in the direction of the Uffizi-Boboli Gardens: you will exit from the door next to the Buontalenti Grotto, to be accompanied to the exit from the courtyard of Palazzo Pitti. It will not be possible to book more than 5 tickets at a time, even for different dates. The ticket will contain a link to the map with the route to reach the access point to the Corridor; a QR code to view it has also been included in the signage in the Gallery.
